My dream

As you all probably know I am a journalist student and I have two months left of my third and final year. It is scary but at the same time I cannot wait to be finished and to join all the fine working people out there. That is, if I get a job.

One of my greatest passions in life is travelling. I know I’ve mentioned this before, especially when I wrote about our planet, but I absolutely love travelling. My list over places to go is not becoming any shorter, it is simply becoming longer as I discover new places I want to go. I write down everything, down to a teeny tiny little town. There is simply too much to see on our beautiful planet.

I also love to write about the places I’ve been to. After I started this blog I have really become aware of just how much I love it. To be able to write about my personal experiences gives me such a satisfaction, especially when I hear that people are learning something from what I write.

I would love to be a professional journalist some day. I realise that it is a tough market but I am willing to struggle to achieve my goals. I would especially love to be a travel journalist. That is my dream and I hope this is a dream that I can achieve. Yesterday I got a comment on my post about Tower Bridge from Shah, the lovely blogger from Words in Sync, and it almost brought me to tears.

You SO should be a travel journalist – and work for London Media! You give each post a kiss of fun and you evoke a desire to visit – I always loved London, but you really add a certain special glow to it.

Reading this meant the world to me. To hear this makes me believe that my dream is possible and I am so thankful for all the support I get from friends and family, such as my best friend Johanne and my lovely boyfriend Kjell Steinar. I can’t wait to see what will happen; we all just have to be brave enough to follow our dreams.

  2. Sweetie, you definitely have to follow your dream. I used to be a journalist and it was everything I dreamed of and more. I had to make a tough decision however, with where I wanted to take my career and I ended up in television and now I'm pursuing a masters to go even further. None of this would have happened if I didn't follow my dream. It is 100% a tough market out there, especially with journalism but just have faith :) Keep your head up high and you'll get there!

And I'm like you with traveling... I have a list too. It's my ultimate passion... I tend to spend all my money on it haha.

  3. Travel adventures are very exciting and your writing is certainly good enough for publication. The field of formal journalism is contracting right now but that doesn't limit you if you have imagination. Follow your dream, be creative, and you'll find a way to make it work. Plus, when you're doing something you love, you work harder because it isn't "work" but enthusiasm.

  4. I didn't actually know that that was your dream either! How fabulously appropriate ;D Wonderful - glad it touched you. Meant every word. Dreams were meant to be caught, wrapped up in sugar paper and and swallowed whole! ;D Shah .X

  5. Go for it lady! I second Shah's words of encouragement, and think you have real talent, and also have real drive.
I can't imagine not going for what I want, so I think you should do it too :)
Hang in there with the school!

Shah - You have no idea how much it meant to me, to hear it from someone who doesn't really know me. That makes me even more sure that this is what I want to do. So thank you so much, you're such a sweetheart =)

  10. I Absolutely love your post ( and your blog) I am totally with you on following your dreams and making them come true. I read a couple of your posts and you are really good!
My parents always said that if you want it badly then you will work hard to achieve it. So with that in mind, I know you will do it. Even though I don't know you, I see the determination thru your writing. Keep up the good work and one day (maybe soon!) we'll be reading about your travel experiences in Travel & Leisure magazine or whichever magazine you want :)
I'm a new follower and can not wait to see more posts of yours.
